Summary

Accessing and visualising climate projections at regional level is a crucial first step in climate change adaptation efforts. That’s why we developed the Klima Scenarios viewer for IHOBE (the Basque regional government's public environmental management company). This easy-to-use, interactive portal allows users to explore the different climate change scenarios at a regional level, from a provincial to a neighbourhood scale.

    Multiple choices

    The viewer allows users to:

    • Filter by region
    • Select the projection for more than 25 variables:
    • General variables such as mean and extreme temperatures or precipitation levels.
    • Sector-specific variables, such as cooling degree-days or evapotranspiration.
    • Check and download the temporal series showing the evolution of the data.

    The scenarios presented are reference information for subsequent cross-cutting studies of the impact of climate change in sectors such as health, agriculture, water resources and the natural environment, among others.

    This project has been developed within the framework of the Climate Change Strategy of the Basque Country, Klima2050.

    • 12 EURO-CORDEX models
    • RCP 8.5 and RCP 4.5 scenarios
    • High spatial resolution (1km x 1 km) until 2100
    • High temporal resolution (daily resolution)
    • Data adjusted by bias-correction techniques

    Data displayed

    The data displayed in the viewer come from the Klimatek Project 2017-2018. You may find more information about these data on the Ihobe and Basque Regional Government websites.
