The updated version of the AdapteCCa Climate Change Scenarios Viewer provides access to future climate information in Spain via a renovated, simple, responsive User Interface, while broadening the variety of data available.
We’ve developed it and been doing maintenance work for the tool since 2016 for the Spanish Bureau for Climate Change and the Fundación Biodiversidad.
A summary of the main novelties below:
A more intuitive and modern User Interface
We’ve brought the UI up to date, with a physical map as a base layer, providing texture and realism. Besides, we’ve redesigned and simplified the boards and gathered them in a single one, displayed on the left side of the screen.
In it, we’ve simplified and grouped the commands (scattered across several different panels before), have included an explanatory key and added new options to customise the colour palette, making it easier to understand the selected data. The new design of the side panel shows what’s being visualised at a glance.
Besides, we’ve expanded the available options by providing more action buttons on the right-hand side of the screen – you can use them for obtaining permalinks to selected visualisations and making it easier to download both maps and regional information.
And lastly, for you not to miss any of this, we’ve included a guided tour when you access the tool.
New functionalities
We’ve also included new options to visualise information, such as summary tables, climate stripes for making data interpretation easier and annual cycle figures.
The multiple dimensions of analysis made possible by the visualisation of results according to the warming level selected (between 1.5 and 4ºC) is an additional novelty.
Furthermore, we have added hatching layers showing the agreement or disagreement of the models and, with it, the level of uncertainty (or absence of it) in climate change projections.
Improvements in bias adjustment
The methodology for bias adjustment for precipitation indexes of CMIP6 has also been updated.
